Ronnie Coleman

Ronnie Coleman, Wikipedia – Ronnie Dean ‘Big Ron’ Coleman (born May 13, 1964 in Bastrop, Louisiana) is an American professional bodybuilder who holds the record of eight straight wins as Mr Olympia. Alongside his eight wins as a professional bodybuilder, Coleman holds the record for most wins as an IFBB professional with 26. He broke the previous record (held by Vince Taylor at 22 wins) in Moscow on November 5, 2004.”

As part of the launch of, Clint had the opportunity of being host to a number of top bodybuilding champions for several days - Ronnie Coleman, 8 times Mr Olympia, being one of them.

As Clint waited in arrivals at Heathrow airport, he watched in amazement as Ronnie strolled towards him surrounded by numerous airport attendants struggling with the 8 large suitcases he had brought with him - a funny sight. Clint later found these suitcases to be jam packed with personalised tee shirts to sell at the show for £20 a throw, with about 100 tee shirts per case! Fortunately Clint had travelled alone to collect Ronnie from the airport, so just about managed to jam all of the cases into the motor.

Clint had been looking forward to his first chat with Ronnie, which no surprise turned out to be about food! Ronnie was starving and wanted to stop at the very first service station they got to, where they devoured some chicken with barbeque sauce and rice, the staple diet of us bodybuilders! Unfortunately for Clint, this would be their last conversation on the road, as he soon found that Ronnie has a habit of falling asleep as soon as the wheels start turning, regardless of journey length!

As soon as they arrived in Coventry, they headed to Future Fitness to train legs.  Ronnie was still recovering from a neck operation so shoulders weren’t on the agenda, to Clint’s relief.

That night Clint took Ronnie to TGI Fridays where he had a further SIX Chicken Breasts with JD sauce (Clint could only manage four!). The following day they did train shoulders, some of you may have even been lucky enough to catch site of the big man in action.

As a young man he acquired a B.S degree in accountancy, and played American football as a middle linebacker with the GSU Tigers. After graduation, Ronnie went on to become a police officer in Arlington, Texas, where one of his fellow officers suggested he take up bodybuilding – which we all know has led to his great success. Ronnie is a quiet, unassuming man, more of a listener than a talker, extremely polite and well educated. Clint was truly honoured to have spent time in his company, and especially elated to have had this champion train at Future Fitness.
